Determination of Nickel concentration in Pd-Ni plating bath

Nickel analysis makes it possible to quantify the concentration of Ni in Pd-Ni electroplating baths, within which this metal serves as the primary brightener. If the amount of Ni in the electroplating bath is lower than expected, the electroplating process may be suboptimal, leading to problems with aesthetic defects (e.g., glazing) in finished products. For this reason, monitoring the concentration of Ni in Pd-Ni baths is critical to ensure the good performance of electroplating processes.

Method

Test type: End Point.

Testing time: 6 minutes.

Analysis sessions with multiple samples are possible up to a maximum of 16 tests for CDR GalvanLab® and 3 tests for CDR GalvanLab® Junior.

Sample treatment

The sample can be used as is.

Principle of the test

Nickel content is determined by its reaction with a chromogen that develops a coloration, the optical intensity of which is proportional to the Ni concentration in the sample analyzed.

Calibration curve

Calibration curve was obtained by correlating the CDR method with the reference method.
