Determination of Iron concentration in Pd-Fe plating bath

Iron analysis allows the quantification of Fe concentration in Pd-Fe electroplating baths. If the amount of Fe in the electroplating bath is less than the expected amount, the electroplating process may be suboptimal, possibly leading to problems with aesthetic defects (e.g. glazing) in the finished products. Therefore, monitoring the concentration of Fe in Pd-Fe baths is critical to ensure the good performance of electroplating processes.

Method

Test type: End Point.

Testing time: immediate reading.

Analysis sessions with multiple samples are possible up to a maximum of 16 tests for CDR GalvanLab® and 3 tests for CDR GalvanLab® Junior.

Sample treatment

The sample can be used as is.

Principle of the test

The iron content is determined by its reaction with a chromogen that develops a coloration, the optical intensity of which is proportional to the Fe concentration in the analyzed sample.

Calibration curve

The calibration curve was obtained by correlating the CDR method with the reference method.
