Determination of Free Potash concentration in Bronze bath

Free potash analysis makes it possible to check the concentration of free hydroxides in bronze baths: the value must be kept within well-defined ranges to ensure an optimal deposition rate and to obtain a deposit free of aesthetic defects.

Monitoring the free potash value is essential on the production line in order to provide real-time correction and prevent defects on the finished product.

Method

Test type: End Point.

Testing time: immediate reading.

Analysis sessions with multiple samples are possible up to a maximum of 16 tests for CDR GalvanLab® and 3 tests for CDR GalvanLab® Junior.

8%

Sample treatment

The analysis is carried out on bronze bath. The sample must be previously treated with an aliquot of

activating solution in cuvettes.

Principle of the test

The free potash value is determined by the reaction between hydroxide ions in the galvanic bath and a chromogen. The optical intensity is proportional to the concentration of hydroxide ions in the analyzed sample.

Calibration curve

Calibration curve was obtained by correlating the CDR method with the reference method.
